Le spa du Jeu de Paume — altitude bubble in Chamonix
Heated indoor pool, hammam, sauna, jacuzzis, signature treatments — facing the Aiguilles du Mont-Blanc, in the heart of the hamlet of Lavancher.
There are spathat which we look for even before entering. That of the Chalet Hotel Jeu de PaumeThe one in Lavancher is one of them. Nestled in a wing of the chalet, bathed in natural light and a hushed atmosphere, it has the discretion of a large spa Mountain retreat and the warmth of a wooden cocoon. Ten minutes from the center of Chamonix, a world away from its hustle and bustle. Silence comes first — it's the hallmark of the house.
A timeless bubble — the spirit of the place
We enter through a light wood corridor. The bathrobes are already there, folded. The slippers are waiting. At the end of the corridor, silence—the silence of spathose who understood that these were not municipal swimming pools. The low attendance is the rule here, not a coincidence: the espaThese rooms are intimate, the service is discreet, and for a few hours you feel like you have the chalet all to yourself. That's precisely what you came looking for.
The decor was designed with the same logic as the rest of the house: Noble materialsLight wood, stone, water, natural light. No screens, no neon lights, no blaring music. Just the crackling of the heat, the lapping of the water, and the light changing throughout the hours on the Aiguilles du Mont-Blanc, which can be seen from the east.spathis rest.
The facilities — water, heat, silence
It all begins with the heated indoor pool . The water is 30°C, the light plays on the woodwork, and you can swim a few laps or simply float in the water. To the side, the indoor jacuzzi offers a place to relax longer, in silence, gazing out at the glass roof. Outside, and this is one of the house's defining features, there's an outdoor jacuzzi facing the Aiguilles du Mont Blanc—the chalet's signature experience, also available in winter, under the snow or a starry sky.
For warmth: a hammam , where the steam slowly fills the lungs, and a sauna , where the dry heat prepares you for plunging into the cool water of the plunge pool. Alternating hot and cold is one of the oldest restorative practices in the world, and here it takes on its full meaning—between a day of skiing, a high-altitude hike, or simply an afternoon of doing nothing.
In the center of spa, the espathis rest Plush sun loungers, complimentary herbal tea (verbena, linden, genepi), and the view that makes it all worthwhile. Cozy bathrobes, slippers, and towels are provided; a individual changing room It allows you to put down your belongings in complete serenity. Everything that matters — the duration, the calm, the warmth — is designed so that you don't have to think about anything else.
Treatment menu — signature massages, facials
The treatment and massage menu has been redesigned for the season. It features massages from around the world —Californian, Balinese, Abhyanga, Lomi Lomi, Thai, Shiatsu, and Singaporean—performed by our certified practitioners. For those who appreciate a local signature massage, we recommend the Mandana massage : a deep tissue massage that blends gliding pressure and stretching, ideal after a day at altitude.
Targeted treatments — back, legs, and massage—are classic late-afternoon options for those returning from hiking or skiing. Hot stone massages, lasting 60 or 90 minutes, prolong the effects of alternating hot and cold in the sauna. Lymphatic drainage and foot and cranial reflexology round out the menu for those seeking more precise work.
For facials, three treatments have been added to the selection for the season: a 60-minute hydrating facial and massage , combining cleansing, gentle exfoliation, and a signature massage. All treatments are by reservation only—it is recommended to book upon arrival at the hotel, or in advance by telephone.
