There are some people who can't sit still. Not out of restlessness—out of curiosity. Charles-Antoine is one of them. Diving guide in Australia, farmhand in the Merredin bush, waiter in a Dunsborough pub, metal erector… and now a member of the team at Jeu de Paume in ChamonixA journey unlike any other, for a man who loves precisely that: the unknown.

A childhood memory at the Mer de Glace
Charles-Antoine was born in the Ain region. He discovered Chamonix as a child, during a family Sunday at the Mer de Glace glacier. That memory never truly left him. Years later, after travelling the world, he returned.
A memory of a Sunday spent with family at the Mer de Glace.
This is one of the stories we love at Jeu de Paume — that of a mountain that leaves its mark on a child and gives them a rendezvous years later. Chamonix has that magic.
A trip around the world as a school of life
Before arriving here, Charles-Antoine traveled the world—literally. He returned with a life experience few CVs can match. In Australia, he earned his Divemaster certification and became a dive guide at Dive Ningaloo, in one of the world's most beautiful marine reserves. He worked the land in Merredin, served beer in Dunsborough, cleaned buildings in Raglan, New Zealand, and erected metal structures in 2025.
Before his big departure, it was a whole other world: the world of optics. For nearly eight years, from 2011 to 2019, he was an optician manager at Optical Center — customer contact, listening, advising. Qualities he has never lost.
The mountain as an adventure playground
In Chamonix, Charles-Antoine is not idle. An apprentice paraglider and snowboarder , he is starting splitboarding so that one day he will be able to explore the valley from all angles.
What does he like here? The list says a lot about who he is:
Starry nights, community, birdsong, hiking, forests and rivers, the height of the mountains.
A man who looks at the sky as much as the ground. And who hears what others no longer listen to.
Why the Jeu de Paume Trust.
When asked why he chose the Jeu de Paume Rather than another establishment, Charles-Antoine responds in a single word:
Trust.
This word says it all. Trust is what we strive to build every day here — with our clients, with our team, with our partners. When a team member spontaneously perceives it, that's the best kind of validation.
And what does he like about his job? He answers with the same conciseness:
The Stranger.
Every client is a different story. Every service brings its own set of surprises. For someone who has traveled the world wondering what the next day holds, the Jeu de Paume is the right place.
